For the past few months, we have been working on a project near and dear to our hearts: the inaugural edition of COMMONS, an 8.5″ x 11″, 152-page, soft-bound book filled with stories, essays, full-color photographs, and 30 recipes from local chefs, farmers, growers, bakers, and food enthusiasts.
Charlottesville COMMONS 2013 was crafted using a sponsorship model, wherein local businesses or individuals sponsored feature stories not about themselves, but about another business or person in the local food community—someone they thought we should know more about. Through these stories and the accompanying images, you will get to know local farmers, artisans, chefs, bakers, advocates, and enthusiasts, all driven by a genuine desire to widen the reach of locally produced food.
This first edition of COMMONS has a theme of heritage, tradition, memory, and innovation, and as we created it over the past few months, we were struck again by the depth of talent and passion surrounding Charlottesville’s local food scene. This place we call home is brimming with folks interested in creating a better future for themselves and their neighbors. Through collaboration and hard work, they are truly creating something that is greater than the sum of its parts.
Charlottesville COMMONS 2013 will be available for purchase in September 2013. You can preorder the book here. If you would like to sell the book in your own store or business, or would simply like more information, feel free to drop us a line!
