“Charlottesville residents and visitors alike saw a new sign on the Downtown Mall last week as they went to work, grabbed a cup of coffee, or strolled about listening to the sounds of familiar street performers. Celebrated Charlottesville photographer, Sarah Cramer Shields, opened her new studio and office on 2nd Street just above popular slice spot, Christian’s Pizza.

While the black and white Cramer Photo sign marks a personal milestone for the artist, it is also a bright symbol of hope and prosperity for small businesses within the community during a sluggish economy. “There is no place I’d rather open a studio than on the Downtown Mall,” said Shields, “It’s a wonderful feeling to be able to bring more business to this town that’s given so much to me. I look forward to meeting with my future clients in this space.”

Shields is eager to share her rotating collection of favorite images in her new digs which is chock full of architectural features original to the space. Social media gurus and building mates, Cloudbrain, are already celebrating the spirit of entrepreneurship with their new neighbor. “We are excited to see this business grow. Cramer Photo has been documenting the wonderful quality of life in our region for many years.
